Construction

In March 2022, Greenlink Interconnector Limited reached financial close on construction of the project, the first privately-financed interconnector in Europe supported under the Cap & Floor regulatory regimes in the UK and Ireland.

The contract for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the interconnector is held by a consortium comprised of Siemens Energy and Sumitomo Electric. Preliminary onshore works began in Pembrokeshire and Wexford in January 2022 and the project is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2024.

Greenlink will offer important employment and supply chain opportunities during construction. Businesses interested in offering goods and services to the EPC contractors should visit our Suppliers & Procurement page here.

We will continue our proactive engagement with local residents and communities in the vicinity of the project during construction. We welcome any comments or enquiries – just contact us here.
