25 September 2023. Local residents, businesses and other stakeholders near the Greenlink electricity interconnector in Wexford have been updated on progress of the project in a new edition of the Greenlink Community Newsletter.
The September newsletter gives an update on engineering works both onshore and offshore, along with the support that the project continues to give to local charities and initiatives.
News highlights include:
delivery of four 160-tonne grid transformers from Germany by sea, for installation at the converter station at Great Island;
completion of civil engineering works at the converter station, including external cladding;
details of the next phase of onshore cable laying in roads between Great Island and the project landfall at Baginbun Beach, including traffic management;
an update on jobs and economic benefits; and
how Greenlink is supporting Ramsgrange Tidy Towns, Gusserane O’Rahillys GAA club and SouthWest Wexford Heartsave.
