Application submitted for first marine surveys

23 January 2018 - Element Power has submitted an application to the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government for a foreshore licence to carry out the first marine surveys for the Greenlink interconnector.  These surveys are required to fully explore the potential for routing the proposed interconnector cables to the areas surrounding Boyce’s Bay and Baginbun Beach on the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford.

Full details of the application, including how to respond to the public consultation, which opens today, can be found here.

Peter Harte commented;

"The proposed Greenlink interconnector will connect the Irish and GB power markets and bring a number of benefits, including greater energy security, inward investment and savings for electricity consumers.
We remain in the early stages of the development process and this application for the foreshore licence will allow us to begin the first essential marine surveys.
We believe that a proactive and constructive dialogue with stakeholders will result in the best possible proposal coming forward and we will be commencing a full and thorough public consultation to discuss the full project in the near future.”
